Cocomarindo complex in playas del coco
Convenience store just beside complex that holds a surprisingly good stock.
2 restaurants just across the complex had ceviche was good and also a pizzeria which I have yet to try
A 10 minute walk to town with convenience store in between and a meat store too. There are 4 grocery stores nearby, a fruit/vegetable store with a meat counter, 2 variety stores
Walking on road to get to town must be aware of traffic as there are no sidewalk though. Going by beach is lenghtier and must cross 2 water streams, if in high tide very dangerous
Everywhere we’ve been, travellers congregate and help each other out but here, its not present, owners tend to avoid travellers…..

Warning Warning #49 is a dump!
The pics are 20 years old, this place is run down. Black mold in bathroom, we had a roach in the silverware drawer.
Hugh spider in shower, no screen on windows....Just read other reviews on Unit #49....We got a bait and switch when we booked. Do not stay here at any price.

Pool nice. Unit #49 awful.
Having seen a previous terrible review on unit #49, I would agree on some points, and even expand on some. Unfortunately, we were not made aware of the number of our unit before we rented it for two weeks. The bed was like sleeping on a plank, and it was lumpy. No mattress cover ….the sheets just slid off. This was rectified with an extra sheet when I complained. What sleep we got was interrupted every night by five barking dogs and a rooster living on the farmyard full of junk facing our bedroom, which had a large, loose fitting, single pane patio door. My husband has lung issues, and had difficulty with the chemical? odours wafting throughout this unit. Couldn’t open any windows…….no screens! No hot water in the kitchen…the tap was actually disconnected. The stove top was ancient and took forever to heat. The bathroom was awful. The oversized rain shower head in the small shower blew out the curtain, and we had water everywhere. The problem was solved with a second plastic shower curtain that must have cost at least 50¢. On a positive note, the two air conditioners worked quietly and well.
The caretaker for this unit was pleasant and responded quickly, although she often argued first. She got us a bedside lamp and a new coffee maker on request, and her husband was a great help in that upon our arrival he replaced all the dead lightbulbs (3), and got our main TV to speak english. The one in the BR had an available HDMI outlet in for our Amazon firestick, which was a plus. Although the basic amenities listed for Cocomarindo are true, they are misleading. Our unit was supposed to be an “upgrade”, which was a blatant lie. Always be suspicious of an “upgrade” offer for less money!! It was old and beat-up. The photos shown were not of our unit. There is no “private pool”, but the main pool (which was beautiful) was steps away from our door, which was nice. There are no pool lounge chairs, so we bought a blowup float. We were privy to loud, private conversations while on our tiny section of patio space, but thank goodness we had nice neighbors. The ‘laundry’ is a separate building, and was not free. The grounds are clean, secure, and very well kept, but the Cocomarindo is surrounded by a very poor neighborhood. Walking is a risky venture at night, and is advised against. Walking in itself is risky due the lack of sidewalks, rutted walkways and narrow, busy roads. It must be noted that the condo owners (and renters) we met here were welcoming and very friendly, and apparently there are units here that are much nicer and more modern. Avoid #49! Slumlord.

Unbelievable experience
Dealing with Michele from home in Wpg was a fantastic experience as she answered all my quirky questions the same day if not an hour later.
When Michele explained all about the place that we were going to rent plus all the pictures she sent they were 100% accurate which has never happened to us in all our years of travels as there were always something incorrect or not show properly/hidden from the other rentals.
Michele went above and beyond for us to make us feel at home.
Yes there was a charge to pick us up at the Airport but it is a cost we would have had to pay no matter who picked us up, but having someone from the rental pick us up and take us to the front door and help carry our luggage in, it just made life so much better and less stressful. The cold beer waiting for us when we got our bags was a nice touch by Michele.
Michele took us grocery shopping for the first night making sure we had a good start where the better place to shop was.
She told us about a pot luck every Thursday at CocoMarindo and we seen them gather but it is not something we do but surely appreciated the offer. Every person we did meet & talk to at CocoMarindo were very nice and you can sure see how it is like a big family there and they make you feel comfortable as possible.
Plus asking the owners of unit 57 if we could get a BBQ and they came through for us with a brand new propane BBQ for our stay. The place was very clean and had everything we needed and more.
Unfortunately due to an emergency we had to go home 6 weeks early. to no surprise there was no hesitation from the owners and Michele with giving us a refund for the time we never stayed.
That in itself is a miracle and a testament to what type of people the owners of unit 57 and Michele are.
The bad side of Michele is she got me hooked on Yippe Bars and trust me go buy some to try, you will not be disappointed.
We will be definitely be going back to finish off the holiday when possible and hopefully there are units available for us.
I am positive Michele will do her best to find us one. We never did get to meet the owners of unit 57 but we are truly thank-you for everything and wish we would have met them.
You are truly honest caring beautiful people.
If you are dealing with Michele and going to rent from her bring he a treat from home, she loves Black and Red Twizzler licorice.
