Great hotel for wine lovers nearby lovely city of Trier

High quality hotel. Building has a modern extension in which modern and spacious rooms are situated. The original hotel hosts the restaurant which serves high culinary dishes accompanied with house wines (also extensive wine list with other wines).
The hotel is part of a winery with a high quality range if local wines.
True recommendation for wine lovers. They also offer walks through the vineyards or even a picnic amongst the vineyards

Nice food BUT..

We payed a whopping 255 euros to be part of the New Year’s Eve kitchen “party” and the food was certainly good. HOWEVER..the Lady of the house is certainly one of the most unlikable humans on this planet. Not only had we ordered a taxi already because of e could tell they wanted us the hell outta there because they wanted to close.. no they had to ask us SEVERAL times whether or not we called for a taxi and when the taxi would be arriving. Not only am I not able to let a taxi magically appear, but also we were not able to tell her when it would be arriving. Being kicked out after we left over a thousand dollars in total there is quite frankly not what I would consider tasteful, elevated and mannered. The lady of the house seems to be the biggest problem judging by all of the reviews..so. Might consider doing something about it. In the end however the quality of the food won’t make up for lack of professionalism in terms of service.

Have a nice weekend

We were in Trier for a weekend trip and spent a lovely night at Beckers.
The hotel is very quiet, with the window open we could hear the rushing stream. The room was spacious and modernly furnished.
I can understand the comments of other guests regarding the very transparent toilet, but that is not enough to deduct a point.
The check-in and check-out was carried out personally by Mr Becker and was very pleasant.
We will be back.

Very bad experience so much so that my family left the hotel the day after my arrival even though we planned to stay 4 nights.
Unprofessional and unfriendly welcome. I was given to understand that I had reserved 2 single rooms when I had actually reserved 2 double rooms. Then the online reservation (via design hotels) only left the choice between adults and children and the hotel wanted to pass my daughters off as 2 adults, which significantly increased the price of the night. Given the manager's lack of understanding, we left angry.
Apart from that, the cleanliness of the rooms left something to be desired and the television did not work.

Lots of room for improvement

Certainly below expectations. The rooms are modernly furnished, whereby modern means that quality has been sacrificed in favor of design. The wall-level cupboards have no handles but rather recesses, which of course means that the white paint has worn off down to the wood in the area of the handles. The bathroom is very large, unfortunately the toilet is only separated by a clear glass door that can be moved towards the shower. The magnifying mirror is set into the normal mirror but is positioned in such a way that anyone under 1.75m will probably not be able to bend over far enough to see anything in it because the whole thing is installed behind the washbasin. There are many switches in the room whose function is not always clear. Some switches do not work, perhaps they switch sockets? Of the many lamps, three bulbs were defective. The plastic cover of the bedside lamp was only left on, which I then installed correctly myself.
You have to pre-order breakfast the evening before and specify the time. But expecting to be served when you show up at the restaurant is most likely wrong. At least we waited almost 10 minutes before we were even asked what we wanted to drink. Breakfast came another 15 minutes later, but not all at once, but was served in several stages. It seems surprising that guests come when they have announced their arrival; otherwise there is no other explanation for the fact that nothing was apparently prepared. It wasn't just us, by the way.
The reception was also mostly unoccupied. I imagined 4 stars for €180 in a suburb in the vineyards around Trier to be different.
