Well-located hotel in the heart of Catania
It's located within the heart of the city and its historical sites; it's an easy 10-15 minute walk from the central train station. Beware, if walking along the main avenue where the hotel is located, the sidewalk/pavement is quite narrow, where I wound up just walking in the street to move quicker.
The hotel is in an older, historical building with a walk up to the first (U.S. second) floor. My room was right off the reception/breakfast area; it was adequately furnished, fulfilling the needs for my brief stay of a few days. Also, a small fridge in the room and excellent WiFi. In addition, my room had an outdoor sitting area to relax and even accommodate smokers (there was an ashtray on the table)
The staff is very friendly and great to chat with (yes, in Italian/Sicilian). I believe they spoke enough English to accommodate English-speaking patrons. The breakfast was simple, yet filling with pastries, cold cuts, as well as a panini press. Of course, coffee made to order! There are plenty of places to sit and eat: restaurants & quick bites.
There are some supermarkets near the hotel. However, be aware that behind the hotel is a seedy section of dodgy characters, prostitutes (both women & trans); I just ignored them and kept walking. So, don't take the shortcut through the back alleys behind the hotel and just walk around it by going down the street a bit. The hotel staff can surely help you navigate.
The only down-side was a bit of the noise with some loud guests coming through the hall, as well as loud chatters in the eating area.
