Outstanding!!!
We walked in and Ms. Precious gave us a warm caring welcome….Ms Rayven, the General Manager came and greeted us and welcomed us back. Not too busy as other general managers have been to welcome guests.
Candlewood should use Ms. Precious and Ms. Dayven on the commercials. They are the real deal, not actors that pretend.
Rooms are clean, smell wonderful, A/C blows cold. You would never know pets were allowed. No animal smell or fleas here.
They are updating the hotel but you would never now because you don’t see or hear the work. But, you see the final results for the floors that are redone.
I highly recommend. You will have no regrets.

Precious- the front desk clerk took average to OUTSTANDING. Couldn’t be better!
We had a reservation in Mobile because we drove from Oklahoma, it’s a LONG drive to our house and we’ve been flying down for years but momma wanted to bring the babies…our puppies. This is their FIRST road trip since picking them up as puppies and our Brittney/Poodle mix (the best dog I’ve ever had by far) is FULL of energy and extremely alert/anxious. He’s from a hunting line and is clearly bred to hunt…I just haven’t taught him to hunt for birds- primarily quail in our area but pheasants up north simply because it’s difficult, time consuming and that’s the one thing that I don’t have; time.
We got started later than we planned because as usual, I got home WAY too late to pack and literally made the reservation 2hrs ago, had to cancel in Mobile because I’m not driving until 1am. It’s just too much.
Much to my delight, for whatever reason IHG credited me back for my reservation that I cancelled (no idea why- they didn’t owe me anything) and this was the best match for us traveling with the War Department’s “babies” so we had to find a pet friendly hotel, preferably a little larger rooms than normal and at that point I didn’t care what it cost.
My second surprise for the evening was the lady working the desk, Precious. I spoke to her on the phone to confirm everything after cancelling the other reservation and to make sure that our pups would be welcomed. All was well and I was really surprised to see the parking lot full of what looked like blue collar work trucks and even better…I was able to park my Ram TRX right next to a sheriff deputy’s SUV because my biggest fear is what happens SO OFTEN in Houston- you’re just rolling the dice as to whether your car will even be there, not to mention broken windows or a missing catalytic converter or SOMETHING because it doesn’t seem to matter how nice the hotel is, the thugs find trucks and either steal them or break in and take whatever they can find and if they get into mine they will find an absolute gold mine, I’ll refrain from listing everything that’s in there but it’s WAY more than what would be found in 90% of vehicles.
Precious was incredible. Absolutely over the top friendly, helpful, interested- she insisted on meeting our dogs and assured me that the nonsense in Houston doesn’t happen here. The worker trucks plus the LE vehicle sure looked safe, I’m sure those guys are coming/going all night and day and i have no doubt that they…like me, have very little patience for thugs who steal. I even saw expensive equipment in the beds of a number of trucks so I know mine is safe.
I’m writing this primarily because Precious went over an above in a number of ways, she was over the top friendly and accommodating and she’s as good of an employee as one could possibly ask for based solely on her treatement of us. Some people just like people, enjoy visiting, are quick to laugh and genuinely interested and some aren’t. I’ve seen every business struggle to find great people to represent the owner and teh brand and Precious is truly exceptional- to the point that I tipped her about half of my room cost. I wanted to make a point and reinforce her attitude and helpfulness because we get more of what we reinforce and it’s the only way I could think of to adequately communicate my thankfulness for all that she did for us.
Hopefully the owner will read this and know that as a business owner in the service business, i know greatness when I see it and you simply can’t get better than Precious. It just can’t be done. Add to all of this that she’s off in just a few minutes and one can only conclude that she loves taking care of your guests and this is the behavior that leads to success in her job and in her life.
If I owned this place I’d do something nice for her and make a mental note…this is the kind of person I’d love to see running the hotel and perhaps as an area supervisor or district manager or whatever her boss’s boss is right now because we can teach aptitude but attitude is a choice and something that rarely changes. I’d have my eye on her for future opportunities and I’d be working on how to prepare her for the next job because when the day comes I’d want her ready to go.
Well done. A hotel room is a hotel room, these are very average rooms and ours is exceptionally clean but Precious made a big enough impression on me that I felt compelled to write this “book”. I hope that someone who has the autonomy to do something special for her sees it because she simply rocks!
